DeleteMy Article is about how in Nigeria in the last 5 years their attitude towards terrorism has been what some people think predictable and leaning their government towards becoming Militarism. Every time the Nigerian government believes that there will be a terrorist attack they increase the number of road blocks and soldiers on the street. These actions are more of the impulsive nature and in the end the terrorists still have the advantage. Just like the previous president of Nigeria this presidents actions have not benefited Nigeria very much in the long run in their war on terrorism. If anything the fact that President Johnson is sending in more military personnel is harming Nigeria because there is really no need for them to be there.

The totalitarianism in Maoist is getting bad. In the country everyone is trying to overthrow the leader and create a new better government. Other presidents are saying they should take action in overthrowing the ruler. The country is going through a rough time with the ruler. The ruler of the country thinks his achievements from 2006 are still an amazing thing with what he did for the country. A man named khanal is beginning a protest against the ruler. He is trying to get others to protest with him to protect and save the country.
DeleteMy other article was about the movement Khanal was taking to overthrow the leaders of Maoist as said in my other article. Khanal said “The country is in dire need of national unity but the ruling Maoist leaders are trying to divide the society into several communal groups” this shows how bad the leaders are and what the people need to do to over throw them.

DeleteThe Chinese denied the japanese vessels and choppers with aided weapon strikes, on January 30th The chinese trained a radar by directing weapons to these japanese vessels. The Government has done this as they beleive that they do not know and have to be highly vigilant of Japans true intentions. The Government and ambassador said that these were chinese islands and the japanese vessels had no right to be within these borders.
Anarchy:February 8 2013
A risk in the coast of Nigeria,Cameroon and Somalia were pirates have captured 3 sailors, Piracy in the gulf of Guinea has escalated as it started from low level armed robberies to hijackings, cargo thefts and more. It shows that there is no control over these lands as Governments arent really doing anything, there power is Anarchy. Experts say that many of the pirates that came from these countries were because the Government was so corrupted and so were the laws which enforced criminality to thrive.

http://www.cottagecountrynow.ca/opinion/article/1581273--cuba-communism-and-the-change-that-s-coming
Looking through the news of communism, there had been places where communism was transformed into capitalism. One article I found was about Nepal, and how they had always been about communism but now are deciding on changing to capitalism. The article about Nepal mentioned that socialism and communism will not help gain or improve the country. With hearing this decision many were shocked. My other article about Cuba had the same situation of transforming from communism into capitalism. Cuba faced a huge problem, the fall of the Soviet Union; this fall affected them greatly. The Soviet Union supplied oil to Cuba and imported sugar from Cuba at an inflated price, which held up the economy. So with the absence the of the Soviet Union, the Cubans held great importance on what little rations the government provided and their small monthly wage. Change was needed. The state began releasing more business permits, small restaurants and shops began to appear up in private homes and currently people are allowed to buy and sell their homes. These changes are a helpful step toward solving the Cuban issue. These transformations can be seen positive to Cubans with money, while Cubans with little money are getting tossed behind. Since getting involved into the business world is becoming desired by many, people with a certain career are changing their jobs to a better suited one that can start up a business. Cuba won in some aspects but failed in so many others. Cuba did though make education available for everyone, which is an excellent thing. The bad part is the skilled and educated population doesn’t realize the value of their studies. Well-educated Cubans are not lending a hand to the growth of their country. As options, they are looking at leaving the country or trading their careers to join the service industry.
Connecting this to history class we discussed advantages about capitalism and disadvantages about communism. An advantage we talked about on capitalism is the presence of motivation. People want to thrive and increase their wealth. A disadvantage in communism is that it prevents that ability to thrive and gain more wealth than another person.

DeleteIn my articles it talks about Bureaucracy. Bureaucracy is when the Government gets too involved in your life. Bureaucracy comes in many forms from small things like changing a logo on a membership card to making you fill out more paper work for a building you want to build. Also in my articles it talks about how Government is changing in these countries but they are still too involved in peoples life's. In brazil "On average, it takes 13 procedures and 119 days of work to start a business in Brazil." (Line 14-15) for many people that's a lot of time and money. But in France even the smallest things are changed. "The Communist Party of France has sparked a revolution among the comrades by removing the hammer and sickle from their membership cards." This is still a big deal thought however cause the government is changing tradition and the way of life that everyone is use.

Both of the articles are about communism in China and North Korea. The article explains that in China their economy isn't the best so by equaling their pay check it will fix the economy. Also the target include a five percentage point increase in dividends paid by central state owned enterprises and minimum wage to be forty percent of average earnings. The article about North Korea it explains how they are in misconduct by Obama, secretary of State John Kerry, and Pentagon boss nominee Chuck Hagel. Also say that North Korea is threatening its third test of a nuclear device. Connections to the government types is that they both are similar in is that China and North Korea are both doing bad things for their country. By doing what they are planning it should improve their country. The articles doesn't say how they government is functioning today.

DeleteI chose two articles on totalitarianism. The first article was about a dictator who was on trial for how he had treated his people. This was the first time a dictator was on trial in the courts of another country. This shows how dictatorship isn’t working since another country had to step in and help the people of Chad. He was being prosecuted for crimes against humanity. People of Chad had wanted to try him for 22 years. This dictator has been in house arrest for the last 13 years. He was charged with more than 14,000 political killings, torturing people and violating human rights.
The second article focuses on people not having a say or an unfavorable opinion that they can voice about the leader or government. This is the dictator’s way of making the government look good. An example stated in the article is that a man in China wrote a poem saying negative things about the government and he was jailed.

Both of these articles both talk about Modern Day Communism in China. China has not always been a communist country but it has been going in and out of popularity in China. The articles talk about how communism is slowly creeping back into the picture in China. Communism is not very popular in today’s world; the communist party comes “in and out of fashion” throughout the years. Based on the articles I’ve read, communism in china is working relatively well because many people agree with it and it takes out most of the social classes and a lot of the money that people make is “pumped” back into the economy. Lastly, the themes of these articles is to inform everyone (people in other countries) that communism is slowly coming back into the picture as another common party, some people may agree with it while others won’t agree with what communism brings to a country so they should start thinking about what it could do to your country.

In these articles, China talks about how they want to switch from communism to capitalism. They want to switch to capitalism because the global context and local geo-political reality of china, shows that socialism and communism will not benefit the country. China believes that they will accomplish more if they turn to capitalism. They are now trying to make a peaceful transformation. In the past 30 years, the Chinese economy showed incredible growth, up to an average of 10 percent a year. This article also talks about how China doesn’t want to continue to isolate them; they would like to expand in places such as Africa and also in distressed Europe. These articles also talk about how China would like to explore Mars and the Moon. China would like to be more educated about sciences and by switching to capitalism they will be able to do more research about outer space. I can’t wait to see if their transformation is successful.

The first article is talking about how China is bringing back communism. They will use it to boost their economy by having an equal amount of income from everyone within the country. The second article is about Nepal leaving Communism and moving toward Capitalism. This will allow them to help the poor and allow them to take a “peaceful transformation”.
These connect well to the class and a type of government; communism. The 1st article connects well, because it describes equality to all classes and to have them pay and do the same amount of everything. China believes it shall boost the economy. The 2nd article supports it, because it may talk about moving the government to Capitalism instead of Communism. But, it talks about it not being beneficial and treating the poor unfairly. So the leaders of the parties that control Nepal want to “peacefully” transfer to Capitalism to “bring prosperity to the poor”.
The system of government in these 2 articles is Communism, even a little Capitalism.
Capitalism is still very alive today. Many countries use it and or are trying to get into it, like Nepal. Communism on the other hand is slowly dying off. The main communist countries that come to mind are China, North Korea, and Cuba. Communism is only still around, because the leader will either not back down and change his way, or he doesn’t realize how ineffective it is and how much the country hates it.
The 1st article is stating that they need to go back into it, in order to correct their economy and boost their income. The 2nd article talks about them wanting to leave Communism and go to Capitalism, because Communism doesn’t benefit the poor. While Capitalism allows for the poor to gradually become stronger and self dependant.
My article is about an anarchist group in Egypt called the “Black Bloc”. Themes in the article are that the group is extremely violent and very against the ways of Egyptian government. The Black Bloc wears all black and march the streets of Egypt rioting and going against the Egyptian way of government role. Recently, the group stormed Tahrir Square saying they would “continue the revolution” and “defend protestors” of the Egyptian government. They also made an online propaganda video in which they carried black flags with an anarchy sign.
ReplyDeleteThe way that the Black Bloc runs is as an anarchist group, which means that it goes against all forms of government and a higher power. In Egypt, it’s not common to have an anarchist group because Egypt has a very strict government and will not put up with any rebels or anarchists. Black Bloc is functioning positively and negatively. To some, having a group go against a high power can be inspiring, but it also is negative because a bunch of people can end up getting hurt in the outcome of it all.

In these two articles its talking about a communist government in China and Cuba. In Cuba circumstances they want to start switching over from a communist government to capitalism. Since Cuba isn't being supported by the former soviet union any more there economy is suffering. In Chinas case they are one of the only few countries still left that believe that the communist government is working. China wants to make more equal income distribution which they think will foster higher level of consumption. They don't realize how much their hurting their citizens. The people working hard are getting ripped off and there are others just slacking off and making the same wage. Its just going to hurt their economy more. They are planning on raising their minimum wage which will end up hurting even more people. It will impose cost on manufacturers and exporters. Also luxury items will suffer from high taxes. Cuba is making the right decision and it won't put to much pressure on the government while China continues to head down the wrong path.
President Mohamd Morsi was elected last year is backed up by the Muslim Brotherhood. They are trying to adopt some of the former regime tactics. Protagonists in Egypt are gangs of hooligans, angry youth, former regime security forces , brutal and corrupt police force. Egypt’s defense minister said that they’re not doing this to over throw the regime but to collapse the state into Anarchy. This started last month due to the President suspending the judiciary in order to create a new constitution. Whoever is not involved in the chaos in Cario is either trying to seize power for themselves or is standing on the sidelines. Anarchy is present here because of the violence and how the citizens are trying to over throw the government.
ReplyDeleteIn Bangladesh they are having the same problem with being pushed into an Anarchist government. Widespread anger, mass murders, rape, and abduction have been happening for the last four decades. The citizens of Bangladesh don’t want to have any individual person ruling over them. They want to break away from the authority, or political leader.

ReplyDeletehttp://ideas.time.com/2013/02/25/will-the-supreme-court-open-the-door-to-voter-discrimination/
My articles are about federalism and how it’s used today in government. For instance when the president proposed taking away part of act five voters rights. They want to have less restricted voting because many Americans wait until last minute. There was a mentioning of this in a government meeting yesterday Wednesday February 27th. Many federalists are against this because they believe it should not be changed at all. They are appalled and ready to fight for what they think should stay.
DeleteIn my second article a republican senate wants obama to put a freeze on hiring people and making new jobs. He says that there will be cuts made and its useless to hire. He urges him to stop while he’s ahead but Obama believes he is right. He says that he can hire with small budget cuts made here and there. The senate proposed a vote to finalize this.
These articles are federalist because it shows that they want a strong government and they will fight for it. The government is a mix of different beliefs on the way it shoukd be run but many are federalist views.
