    2. North Korea has threatened to drop bombs on us. These two articles I picked are explaining the process of what they took and also how North Korea declared war on South Korea. If North Korea goes through with this bombing of us or war with South Korea then it could possibly cause WWIII. In the article about North Korea declaring war on South Korea the U.S. is taking this as a serious threat to us because this would mean they need to help South Korea because they are helping them now. The article about South Korea saying they will bomb us is basically an act of trying to look tough but really if they did bomb us we would destroy them with the bombs we have. We sent a guy named john Kerry over to talk to the leader in Seoul. He arrived in South Korea nearly thirty miles away from the demilitarized zone and he could feel the tension between both sides before even going into the meeting. They discussed but made no change. If North Korea bombs us or attacks South Korea it could be the start of WWIII and the end of the world. Especially if nuclear bombs are being dropped on everyone.

The leader of Italy had a coalition acknowledge and was unable to come together to a governing majority with the representatives of the political parties in Parliament. He failed to talk but the underscored the country’s political stalemate just as leadership is needed to arrest economic decline. The leader Pier Luigi Bersani had an hour long meeting with president, Giorgio Napolitano the consultations had not lead to a positive resolution. Mr. Bersani said he was not giving up on a possibility creating a new government. National elections last month effectively split Parliament into three hostile fronts. Mr. Napolitano could figure out to help forma viable government. The Prime minister designates Tammam Salam on his consultations to form a government. The Hezbollah-led alliances demand for the formation of a national unity cabinet or a political government to supervise the upcoming parliamentary elections. Salam had won support for his appointment from Arab and foreign countries and the United Nations which called a swift formation of a new cabinet to hold the elections. MP Mohammad Raad, head of Hezbollah’s 12-member bloc in Parliament, said the bloc wished Salam success in his mission to form a new Cabinet, “particularly in this delicate stage through which Lebanon is passing.” Mikati demanded during his meeting with Salam a quick formation of a new government to hold the elections. These two articles have to do with what we learned in class by learning the different types of governments. Also through the whole process of the elections and how they are trying to form a new government also dealing with government officials. They are similar in the perspectives on having to do with presidents.

These three articles are all about the possible war that America could be facing with North Korea. They have been putting bomb threats on us for the past few weeks and are slowly approaching to possible commitment. North Korea said that their peninsula have entered a “state of war”. Some American government think that North Korea will not commit because they have made many other threats to other countries and have not committed to attacking, however, should America be risking it and putting it past North Korea and the dictatorship of Kim Jong Un.
This whole situation is very devastating to some. South Korea is one of the most dangerous places on earth and has the power of only some can imagine, and the situation should not be held and taken lightly. This is related to the Executive branch because president Obama is the Commander-In-Chief of the US military and war, and he is Americas leader and is the one to decide to what we do and how we should handle these threats from North Korea.

The two articles that I have are about to attacks on America. The first one that I have is about the most recent attack at the finish line of the Boston marathon which killed three people and 17 are in critical condition. The person set off 2 bombs that were set inside of trashcans. The US is searching as much videos and photograph to try to find who actually was responsible for the attack. My second article is about the gun laws that the government is trying to push sense the attack on sandy hook elementary school in Connecticut. They talk about how even if they were able to pass laws on gun control no matter how strict they are they won’t be able to stop event like this from happening again. Pot is illegal yet any one can get their hands on it. Even if guns were illegal people would find ways to get their hands on them. The people of American people just have to deal with it that shit like this will happen and there are no way of completely stop these people from attacking us.

The Govt. of N. Korea sows its military strength by parading and threats. They will never actually put the threats into action, because they have no alliances. Their Govt. is weak and money-less. The threats that they say toward the US and Japan, are merely just threats. The Govt. of North Korea is not liked by most of the nations throughout the world. Korea is believed to have relations with Middle Eastern Nations that contain extremist. The article Are about the threats and warnings to other nations. The threats are with military violence, as in missile strikes and attacks. Their main threat, of course is the Nuclear Bomb, which they obtained not too many years ago. The fact is that they couldn’t reach the US with their Bombs. Their tech. will not allow them to reach that ar. The Nuke could barely reach Hawaii.

Greece will have to vote through Parliament by Sunday a multi-bill containing the “prior actions” agreed with the troika in order to secure the release of 8.8 billion euros in bailout loans. The vote would have to take place by Sunday because Greek Parliament will not be sitting next week as it is Holy Week ahead of Orthodox Easter. The multi-bill will contain legislation concerning the dismissal of 15,000 civil servants by the end of 2014, the number of installments for Greek who taxes or social security contributions, a 15-percent reduction in the emergency property tax, the strengthening of the role of the general secretary for revenues and voluntary Sunday trading for shops. Some people though, such as Justice Minister Antonis Roupakiotis said that the plan was “monstrous.”

Jason Collins a seven foot, basketball player has come out to everyone earlier this week sharing that he is gay. Not only is Collins a gay professional athlete, he is also black. Though he has gotten a lot of hate for coming out, he has also gotten tons of support from people like, President Obama, Spike Lee, Chelsea Clinton, Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade. Even though Collins coming out has showed how far we have come, some people continue to hate on him and anyone else that we see in the media that has come out: “To be lesbian or gay in this country is often — still — to be required to hide, silently and in plain sight, as homophobic slurs and gay-bashing laws rain down around you. It takes a particular kind of courage to essentially raise your hand and voluntarily leave the safety — albeit the false safety — of your hiding place. Particularly if you are a man.” Collins is a very brave man, just like the kicker who is trying to get onto a team and play in the NFL that came out a few weeks ago.
These situations are like how black people were treated during the civil rights time period. Where it wasn’t even ok for black, and white children to go to school together, drink from the same water fountains, or for black people to sit in the front of public transportation. Though now it isn’t as bad as it used to be, they are stilled verbally abused by others. And every day things are looking better for gay rights activists because the government is continuing to pass laws concerning them.

  11. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2013/05/02/tlenth-state-set-to-make-same-sex-marriage-legal/
These articles are about gay marriage, specifically Rhode Island passing a law that it is legal in their state. The controversy over same-sex marriage is kind of ridiculous and has been taken far out of proportion in my eyes. I believe that every individual has their own right to like whatever they please. If it is not your life then don’t go and judge others for theirs. Every person is given their own slice of freedom; it’s in our American bill of rights to have a freedom of speech and religion. You have every right to essentially do what you want and you don’t have to please anyone. The reason there is a controversy is certain religious people believe “another man shall not love another man of the same sex”- this is in the bible, but, isn’t religion supposed to stay in your own personal life I don’t understand how government can continue to not allow same sex marriage because the bill of rights states that you have the right of religion and speech. Rhode Island is one of the few states who are allowing same sex marriages.
This relates back when lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, and transgender (LGBT) first kicked off in the 90s. They believed that they have the same rights as everyone else in America. They fought for their freedom and what they believed in because LGBT community were not equally given the same amount of freedom and rights as other human being in America.

Segregation may not be between blacks and whites anymore but it is still a big part in society with the current topic being the LGBT community. People say that in the bible it says god does not support same sex marriage, but as it is our freedom to choose our own religion that doesn't mean we all go by the bible so therefore you can not use that argument at the super court or any court because we have a freedom of religion. I personally feel the government should allow same sex marriage seeming how it's part of our freedom. There should also be no discrimination against same sex marriage as it does not harm anyone. This ties into class pretty well because it goes with how Blacks and whites were segregated and how blacks would be discriminated against and treated unfairly.

The four articles that I found and that I will talk about are about how America is recovering from regrowing there economy to help the jobless people and I shall be speaking about Barack Obama's trip to Mexico. As we all know , America is at a crisis with their economy, people are either losing jobs or are not able to get one. The US is working on this bit by bit by adding jobs which means that soon people who are jobless through the United States they will have enough people going back to working or getting jobs. Barack Obama took a trip to Mexico to speak with Mexico's new president Enrique Peña to speak to him bout something specifically which was to focus on the drug cartel and how to fight as well as stop it and to increase its trading with the United States, followed by this Barack Obama gave an inspirational speech to the Mexican citizens 'All you need is hope' speaking about the threats they both face.
North Korea is the country who is not only being communist but faces an amount of problems as they seem not to be part of the rest of the world. Although they are also facing an economic crisis but South Korea is also noticing that North Korea is creating a lot of problems especially when they have noticed that North Korea has built the nuke and are going to test fire it soon to see if it can wipe out American bases. On the other hand North Korea has the worst economy so far, and the real crisis is that if Pongyang does launch this missile then the missile is going to be straightly aimed for The United States of America.

Gays have been struggling for the legalization of gay marriage and other rights. Conservatives view it as unnatural and an abomination. They also believe that people who are gay are sick and need to be healed. Liberals believe that gays are just as equal as a straight person and should be treated as such. They believe that gay marriage should be legal and there shouldn't be any social tension between them. The articles are updating information on states considering legalizing gay marriage. The states listed are¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ Virginia and Minnesota. Gay marriage is now legal in Minnesota and is on its way to be legal in Virginia. Even if gay marriage is legal it will still be socially unaccepted by a large percent of the population and will cause problems. But these are problems that can only be fixed with time.

    http://www.npr.org/2013/05/20/184829036/bans-of-same-sex-marriage-can-take-a-psychological-toll

My two articles talk about same sex marriage. These articles talk about how not only the United States is debating on whether or not to legalize same sex marriage but all around the world! Most of England has legalized same sex marriage and other nations and countries are looking at their laws more closely and debating on whether or not to legalize same sex marriage or to ban it. My articles also talked about the overall effect on gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgenders. In states where they have legalized same sex marriage there is less stress on gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgenders because they can be who they are without worrying and they can marry the one they love no matter what their sexual orientation may be. There have been surveys taken in Massachusetts to see the psychological effects on people during the debate. More gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgenders have gone to receive help when they were under stress about states banning same sex marriage. They were so stressed that they sometimes would have hypertension, depression and adjustment disorders. Once same sex marriage was legalized in Massachusetts, the number decreased greatly. This relates to what we have been learning in class about the civil rights movement because it talks about how they are being treated unfairly, however, slowly but surely are gaining the rights they deserve in the amendments in the constitution. African Americans went through hard times and struggled, but they protested and fought for their rights in a non-violent protest like gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgenders are doing today! If you stand up for your rights you will make progress and slowly succeed. The United States should legalize same sex marriage because it is unconstitutional to ban same sex marriage and it is the right thing to do!

These two articles are about Amazon getting clearance through the government, this is done to both provide the public with a better service (because now it isn’t just ran by the business itself it also has things such as government worker help and the big help in government funding). This can be seen as both a good and bad thing; a good thing is that now that it is helped by the U.S. government can expect a great service, a well organized and well thought out business, and also that it will now be able to run more efficiently. But it can be seen as a bad thing in some respects as well. Such as the ways that now it will not get a lot of money into the economy (such as when a large business makes money they “pump” a lot of money back into the system)

    http://www.thedailybeast.com/witw/articles/2013/05/11/baby-steps-towards-women-s-rights-in-saudi-arabia.html
My first article talks about Afghan woman’s rights and what’s being done about it. The president, Hamid Karzai used his powers to create a law to protect women. Parliament denied the acceptance of this law. Women lawyers and advocates are trying to help solve these many violations of women’s rights by putting people in jail who force young marriage and prostitution. The code of conduct permits “beating of wives by husbands under certain conditions and backed the separation of men and women in schools and offices.”
King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia promised to improve women’s rights, because women were being restricted from driving and were required by law to seek the approval of a male “guardian” to work, travel abroad and, in some cases, to undergo surgery. One of the recent changes was the lift on the ban of sports at private girl schools. Just weeks earlier, there was also the lifted ban of women riding bikes, and buggies with the supervision of a male guardian. These actions are being considered “baby steps” for women rights. There was also progress on the right to drive and operate without male supervision, along with the right to win child custody. In Saudi Arabia, the Riyadh-based National Family Safety Program shows that one in every six women has been abused verbally, physically, or emotionally every day. Often, 90% of the abusers are the husbands or fathers of the women.
With all of this information considered, women are still facing many problems that involve unfair treatment against them. This is resulting in women taking almost any measure just to gain what is rightfully theirs. You can still see the large difference between the respect for men and women. For instance, in Saudi Arabia, men are clearly more dominant since many activities involve their permission/approval. Also, based on the first article, you can see that Afghan husbands have no respect for their wives since they mentally and/or physically harm them.

  18. The first article is informing the public about the issue of Health Care. There are thousands of unemployed people in Rio Grande who are protesting to expand Medicaid to include 1.5 million more people who are living in poverty. This is similar to the people who protested in the 1970’s who didn't want to fight in the Vietnam War. Both of these groups of people feel very passionately about an important issue. The groups both want something from the government. In this case, the people of 2013 want to be ensured Health Care even if they cannot afford it. The hippies of the 70’s felt strongly against war tactics, they held their opinions and acted on it in various forms of protest which soon turned into violence from the police. The second article is about the Internal Revenue Service scandal. We learned in the beginning of the semester about the constitution and the various branches of government. The anti-federalists were afraid that there would be a government with too much power which would eventually lead to totalitarianism. The leaders created things like checks and balances and impeachment so one group could not become too powerful. The government and president want to increase the size of the already large IRS but the only way to fix the problems is to reduce it so the people of this organization don’t abuse their powers.
