In these articles they talk about how far missile technology has come from since the technology of the atomic bomb. We have come so far that we have made atomic bomb defenses and have them helping out Guam from a threat from North Korea. The other article is about more new missile technology and with tanks. Our progression from just several years ago is outstanding and you will see that in the articles. The thing that these events are similar too is the research and success of the atomic bomb. It is similar in every way except that instead of trying to kill people using this technology we are using it to protect lives. Themes that are evident in this event are that technology can come a long way in a short period of time depending on how hard the country works. These articles explain and back up everything I am saying in every way. The Atomic Bomb was huge in its day but there are many technologies soon to be discover or invented that will surely out do it in some way, like maybe an atomic bomb that doesn’t hurt the environment or only kills bad people and not citizens caught in the cross fire.
Both of these articles how that America has been building it self up from the technology they use to have to todays modern technology which is still rising.Americas technology hasnt just helped one country, i beleive that with all this technology they have they probably sell it to other countries. Americas technology is made by the people of America which is shown in the article, the people dedicated to make things better, create new things, and they keep going and going, never stopping such as they are building a solar spaceship which uses the power of the sun to generate itself which is tremendous, The future of Technolgy is getting higher and higher.
These articles show the power of technology, although people beleive that technology is not really helping the world, its just making the generation lazier. The things that are similar are computing technology as well as space technology which both link together as you can use computing in Space crafts.
In both my articles it talks about how Technology has changed everyone's life and the way we communicate. It also talks about how the big company's such as apple and Microsoft have change the way we will communicate forever. In the first article it talks about how jay cutler and Kristen Cavallari got engaged and how electronics played apart. More and more people are turning to online to help them find a date or even there wife/husband. But with all this technology there is rules,Like in Japan you can't use your phone on public transport you have to text.
4k TVs started first coming out in the beginning of 2013 and started at $20,000. they are now starting to pop up for $1300 for a 50". this just shows how ingenuitive people are in the technology field. 4k means the the resolution of the TV is 4096 x 2160 pixels. that is almost 4x as much definition as HD is today. For the TV to take off it needs things that put out that definition. only the port called display port can handle that kind of definition. almost all TVs today use HDMI. if video game consoles were to put out that high of a definition they would have to have $300 video cards in them. Also the connections going into your house would need to be fiber optic in order to support all the data needed to fully use the TV.
My articles talk about how after so many years of arguing and talks trying to get goal-line technology installed it is finally going to happen. It will be used in this years confederations cup and in the 204 world cup, but after these events pass who knows what is going to happen. FIFA president Sepp Blatter believes the cost for such technology is too high. Also a lot of people believe that the best technology is no system at all. But even with those concerns it is still going to happen, and the technology, Hawk-eye will alert officials when the ball has crossed the goal-line. This technology is also very reliable, as it is already being used in tennis and cricket.
http://www.ustechnologies.com/ http://www.usatech.com/ These two articles talk about the United States and our technology we use today. Our technology is becoming more advanced and we are coming out with new things. They also talk about how today everything is electronic and how we use credit cards instead of paper money. We also have more self-check outs in stores and more machines. These articles also talk about how we are becoming more involved on the internet and how now people go to the internet to look up things instead of looking for the answer to their questions in books. Such as the dictionary, a lot of people now just go to dictionary.com for a definition. It is faster and more efficient to just use the internet on certain things. It is saving time but also causing problems. Due to the amount of technology we have such as computers, cell phones, gaming systems etc. more people are becoming lazy and sitting on their butts instead of going outside and being active! Also, Facebook. Facebook is now one of the main causes of divorce. Technology is forever getting more advanced and is changing our lives. Sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worst.

There is much controversy over these weapons because while there are many pros, such as once it is built and paid for, it only costs around $1 to fire it; there are also a lot of cons because they are very expensive to build, very difficult to transport them and that they are very new technology so that there is bound to be problems and fault with these new weapons. Lastly we have to ask ourselves if this new technologically advanced weapon will help the U.S.A.
http://www.futuretimeline.net/21stcentury/2013.htm In 2013-2014 we have a lot in store with the space world, between possible disasters, new technology, and better innovations. In 2013 there plans to be the “Doomsday of the decade”. If all of the alignments go as planned, the sun will emit a Solar flare, which is when a part of the sun will blow up and send billions and billions of magnetic molecules through earth’s atmosphere and those molecules will shut down everything that is electric powered. How that would affect America and around the world? Just think on average how much a day you use anything electric powered. Right now as we speak I’m using a computer to write this, listening to my iPod, and texting friends. Every day you use either the bus or carr to get to school, you use the radio, you use light. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/20/us/boston-marathon-bombings.html?hp http://www.mlive.com/news/index.ssf/2013/04/boston_bombings_pressure_cooke.html The first article was written quickly after officials found the 19 year old boy responsible for the bombings at the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 15. His older brother was shot and killed on Thursday night after a shoot off with the police, the 19 year old Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, was shot but somehow managed to get away. In the article it states how he was found in a man's boat in a backyard in Watertown Massachusetts. This shows the capability that people possess, this boys is only a teenager and has killed 3 people and injured hundreds. In the 50’s bombings like these just didn’t occur. No one had the power technology now gives us to create such a bomb. The second article is stating the way the bombs used at the marathon were made. The two brothers made the bombs with a presser cooker; they learned how to make this device off of and online magazine called “Inspire”. It is a website designed for extremist explaining articulate ways to kill and injury many people. Before, people didn’t have the capability to look up anything with a click of a button. Now that technology is so advanced, anyone can search “how to create bomb using house hold materials” and be create a power weapon in minutes. Back in the 1950’s technology was just starting to get popular, movies were becoming a hit and so were T.Vs. Then, television was the only way other than the radio, and newspaper that news has sent to the public. Social media played a huge role in this event with negative and positive effects. It helped to keep the public aware of the danger, but also the news was moving so quick, some accusations were incorrect causing unneeded stress to people who weren’t involved. During the cold war, the USSR and the United States were in a race to make the hydrogen bomb, similar to the race the police had between the bombers. The police had to capture the brothers, and ensure the safety of the many people in Boston.
I found two articles about how much technology is advancing. Both my articles talk about how teenagers are spending close to $150 to get a fake ID that looks 1oo% real, all the way down to the holograms and barcodes. The article even mentioned that there are YouTube videos showing you how to make your ID show that your 21. My first article also said that bars now have to invest in higher technology to differentiate the real ID’s from the fake ones. My article also said that earlier this month a police officer was walking passed a bar and saw kids that looked under the age of 21, and more than 100 Marquette University students were cited for being in a bar, under aged and also had a fake ID. The bar also didn’t have the latest technology to detect a fake ID from a real one. To keep up with the fast growing “fake ID technology”, the bar is going to invest in a fake ID detecting scanner that can cost up to $3,000. If a bar is caught with giving a minor alcohol, the bar can reach up to $7,500 in fines.
Internet traffic to and from Syria, which is in the midst of a civil war, appears to have dried up. At around 6:45 GMT Tuesday, "OpenDNS resolvers saw a significant drop in traffic from Syria. On closer inspection it seems Syria has largely disappeared from the Internet," Umbrella Security Labs said in a blog post Tuesday. Routing on the Internet relies on the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), which distributes routing information and makes sure Internet routers know how to get to certain IP addresses, Umbrella explained. "Currently there are just three routes in the BGP routing tables for Syria, while normally it's close to eighty," the company said. While traffic to and from the country appeared severely disrupted, Umbrella said it was unclear if Internet services within Syria were still available. "Effectively, the shutdown disconnects Syria from Internet communication with the rest of the world," the company said. my article shows how technology might have caused Syria to disappear from the internet.
http://www.dailyfinance.com/2013/05/05/is-north-koreas-latest-missile-progress-a-serious/ http://news.yahoo.com/north-korea-could-eventually-reach-u-nuclear-arms-003551611.html These 2 articles are about the missile crises with NK. The NK govt. claims they have the tech, range, and resources to reach us with nuclear missiles. The articles tend to give off a vibe of the NK govt., more or less just threatening the US and will not really do anything. The NK do have the tech, possibly, to attack us, but not our main land. They do not have the range. I say possibly, because as we learned in class, the NK govt., is built upon lies. From fake, empty buildings on its border, to having its most healthy people at the borders to make them look better. This all relates to class, because it shows the NK govt. still showing it retaliation against the US. A=and they have still not forgiven us. The themes that are present are scare tactics and domino effects. The NK govt. is trying to scare the US so hopefully we would back down (not going to happen). And then, the Domino effect, the NK must think that if they take the US out, they will be “free” and be able to spread their communism. But, what they don’t realize is they would then be at war with all of our allies. They do not have allies. So it would be a very short war.
http://www.jpost.com/Iranian-Threat/News/Iran-moves-to-speed-up-nuclear-program-despite-sanctions-310094 http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/05/15/us-korea-north-nuclear-exclusive-idUSBRE94D1A120130515 During the end of World War II the U.S. dropped a nuclear bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end the Pacific war. During the cold war Russia and the U.S. went back and fourth threatening to launch there nuclear weapons at each other. Russia even brought nuclear bombs into Cuba which almost brought us to the brink of war. Now there are a couple of countries that own a multitude of nuclear weapons in storage and there are countries such as North Korea and Iran that are trying to advance themselves so that they can be viewed as more of a threat to other countries. The U.S. is trying hard to stop Iran from continuing there nuclear program so that they don't make the mistake of trying to attack a country like Israel so that then the U.S. would have to come in as there allies and start a war against them. In North Korea they are doing the same as Russia did by threatening us that they will launch there missiles but they never will and are just trying to act like a threat.
For people in Baghdad Iraq, Friday May 17 was one of the bloodiest days this year. Two bombs exploded in Baquba, one of the bombs exploded at the edge of a bridge where sunni worshipers gathered for their Friday prayer. Within minutes of the first explosion, another bomb went off forty people were killed and forty six were wounded by the two bombs. In another attack, south of Baghdad, a homemade bomb blew up near a funeral tent. The bomb killed seven people and wounded twenty eight people in all, the police said. Also, nineteen people were killed when a roadside bomb exploded near a commercial complex in the Amiriya district of western Baghdad. Car bombs exploded in Shiite neighborhoods of Baghdad on Thursday, part of a series of attacks in the capital and elsewhere that left at least 21 people dead. And on Wednesday, bombings in Shiite areas of Baghdad and in northern Iraq killed more than 35 people. The last time so many people died was when a series of bombings on March 19 killed 57 people in the Baghdad area. At least 42 people were killed in gun battles that erupted on April 23 in cities across Iraq. The things happening in Iraq now are kind of like what was going on during the Vietnam war. The war went on for years with out no real outcome and lots of people died. But during the Vietnam war the soldiers used Napalm, Agent orange, and search and destroy missions to their advantage. These three tactics brought a lot of fear to others, just like the situation the people of iraq are in. But instead of using car bombs they used napalm, which is a bomb but it sets fire to everything around it. Agent orange was a toxic chemical that devastated the landscape, and search and destroy missions were used to kill people the soldiers thought were tied to the Vietcong. They also killed there livestock and burned their villages.
The 2 articles I picked are about the technological advances and how they could be a problem for us. Also they show the problems that can occur and also the lack of skills needed to use these. This connects to what we are doing in class because during the cold war technological advances were being made like the H-bomb by both the USA and the USSR. This could be a problem because this almost cause use to go into nuclear warfare and possible the end of the world. The technology advances we have are causing Americans to become more and lazier. It doesn’t take that much knowledge to know how to do things. People are worried that the more high tech the equipment is the worse life will get. In my other article it shows the affects of these technological advances and how the skill level of people is dropping rapidly. Also it shows how America is the most affected by the advances.
http://www.smh.com.au/it-pro/business-it/technology-future-looking-bright-for-geelong-20130527-2n7eq.html http://www.digitaltrends.com/cars/ford-daimler-and-renault-build-on-partnerships-to-improve-engine-technology/ Ford has announced that they will be closing their engine factory in Geelong in 2019 also in April Shell’s oil factory refinery in the city was slated for closure. The two operations employ 510 and 600 staff respectively. While heavy industry declines, technology businesses in the region continue to pick up stream. Geelong-based developer sky Software has grown from 12 to 40 staff in the past two years. Job hopping is the modus operandi for many IT workers, getting Geelong staff to stick around is a non-issue, adds Perter Langkamp, who runs Callista Software Services, another developer of student management software. Callista has 30 per cent share of the university market in Australia and supplies 13 institutions. The push for more fuel efficient cars is driving interesting partnerships among automakers that could pay off big consumers down the road. Daimler has been consulting with Ford in the development of a three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that the German company is building with the French automaker. Ford’s turbocharged three-cylinder 1.0-liter EcoBoost gasoline engine, developed in the UK and is currently used in vehicles like the Focus, C-max and Fiesta as well the automaker’s B segment vehicles. Ford is a global leader in engine technology.
My first article talks about the technologies used to catch the Boston bombers. One of the technologies used during this hunt for the Tsarnaev brothers was the LENCO BearCat. The LENCO BearCat is a big expensive tactical vehicle; the cops needed this because the Tsarnaev brothers had pressure-cooker IEDs and homemade hand grenades, a whole lot different than guns. The LENCO BearCat was an appropriate tool for this occasion because the cops were dealing with criminals who had high explosives. That wasn’t the only tool the cops worked with; the cops also used the PackBot a robot that conducted careful inspections. There was also an instance when the Massachusetts State Police needed to see what was beneath a tarp that was covering a boat because it was reported that the second bombing suspect was hiding there, so they used a Forward-Looking Infrared (FLIR)-equipped helicopter. My second article talks about the Dubai Police using a new electric eco-friendly mini car. It’s a four-wheeled car with one seat that can nearly fit into an average-sized lift. This car will help improve police presence in the narrow alleyways of the city. This small electric vehicle will maintain security and provide services in a quick and qualitative way for visitors and residents. Both my articles focus on technology improvements in the police department. Technology is constantly advancing throughout the years and never stops. As technology enhances, people can see that sometimes these new technologies are helping the environment as well. In 1968 there was a lot of police involvement; in that year there were many violent riots, still even today the world faces many violent cases in which we need the police to handle. People won’t ever stop trying to improve the technology that police use, because the police are the one thing that ensures security for the people.

These bombs are commonly used as a more mental attack than a physical in combat. Yes, the bombs do kill many people a year. But, the terrorist use them to scare their enemies, showing that danger could be anywhere or anything. The articles are about current events that have happened in the Middle East. These connect to things learned in class, like the booby traps used in the Vietnam War. Both the booby traps (including mine fields) and the modern day IEDs were and still are greatly used in combat today. Being used to mentally scar and attack the enemies, causing them to be paranoid and have second thoughts about every step they’re going to take. All wondering if it’ll be their last step. The theme here is the mental impact of a hidden weapon. Both these 2 types of hidden weapons were greatly impacting the mental strength of the military then and now.

These 2 articles are about the missile crises with NK.

During the end of World War II the U.S. dropped a nuclear bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end the Pacific war.
ReplyDeleteThe things happening in Iraq now are kind of like what was going on during the Vietnam war.

Ford has announced that they will be closing their engine factory in Geelong in 2019 also in April Shell’s oil factory refinery in the city was slated for closure. Ford is a global leader in engine technology.

http://www.policeone.com/police-products/investigation/Investigative-Software/articles/6214033-The-technology-that-helped-nab-the-Boston-bombers/

These 2 articles are about the use of IEDs (improvised explosive devices) in the modern combat of today.
